Workshop Descriptions

The following are some of workshops C3 offers:

Writing REP Proposals For the College of Fine Arts and Communication

College of Fine Arts and Communication faculty are invited to learn more about the Research Enhancement Program (REP) application process from the C3 Center. Whether you're a seasoned grant writer or a newbie, this workshop will familiarize you with updated guidelines and tips for applying the REP. Never heard of a REP grant? Join Us! REP grants encourage research and creative activities for full-time faculty. They're worth up to $8k for single eligible applicants or $16k for eligible teams.

This training will be a fast and furious way to jump-start your proposal. You will hear helpful grant writing and budgeting tips, see examples of successful REP proposals and gain access to helpful templates.

Writing & Managing Grants @ TXST

Do you have a great research or creative idea, but need funding to make it happen? This introductory course will show you how to search for grants using Texas State library databases (that you can access for free from any computer with internet access). We’ll also give you some basic grant writing tips for beginners and introduce you to a few of the steps you’ll take in managing a grant or other funded project at Texas State (1 hour).

IRB Application Workshop

Does the phrase “Institutional Review Board” send shivers down your spine? Is the threat of the unknown coupled with the thought of tackling all the legal jargon of the IRB application keeping you from pursuing the research of your dreams? Or maybe you are experienced with the old IRB application and you’re looking for assistance tackling the new application? You’re in luck! Sean Rubino, the (surprisingly engaging) Director of the Office of Research Integrity & Compliance is partnering with C3 to offer a 2-hour workshop to help COFAC faculty fill out their IRB forms step-by-step and ask questions along the way. Attendees will be given a checklist of online trainings and documents to complete beforehand. Taking place in a computer lab, the goal is for each attendee (who comes prepared) to finish the workshop with a completed IRB application ready to submit (2 hours).

Tips & Tricks: How to Use Excel for Proposal Budgets

Are you tired of scribbling budgets on paper or typing them up in Word? Want to learn how to do basic calculations in Excel? If you’re a budgeting beginner or want to brush up on your Excel skills, this workshop will introduce you to the basics. You’ll gain simple tips and helpful Excel budget templates
